Comments Off on Meat Eating Causes World Hunger

Scientists estimate that animals bred only for meat must be fed up to 16 kilograms of grain to produce just 1 kilogram of meat. This 1 kilogram of meat can feed only 2 people.

Whereas the same 16 kg of grains can feed 20 people directly.

Hence meat is inefficient when it comes to returns. The resources invested in one animal in animal husbandry is complete waste as the animals in factory farms or animal husbandry are not born naturally but only brought to life  to be slaughtered . If there would not be a demand for meat, these animals would NOT be in existence and the grains could be given to areas affected by famines or deaths caused due to hunger.

The world’s cattle alone consume a quantity of food equal to the caloric needs of 8.7 billion people – more than the entire human population on Earth.

Over a hundred millions of tons of grain go to animals while only 5 million tons of grain could adequately feed the 15 million children throughout the world who starve to death every year.
